Description: Environmental Areas and Corridors Overlay (dataset 1 of 4, Environmental Areas)Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme - www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/mbrcplanningscheme/Caboolture West and North Lakes are to be Masked Out when using for Planning Scheme Maps.This dataset has been created as part of the Green Infrastructure Network (GIN) Strategy. There are four categories in this dataset, sometimes referred to as Vegetation Classes. The Vegetation classes were created as part of a complex methodology which combines portions of many different datasets into different classes, with exception rules applied and also over 1000 manual edits, including removing Veg Class or upgrading or downgrading Veg Class as a result of Ground Truthing, Councillor Workshops, Visual Analysis by Environmental Planners or feedback from other planners to accomodate planning intents for an area. Class 3 and 4 are no longer part of the Planning Scheme Overlay Dataset, Refer to Green Infrastructure Strategy Mapping for Class 3 and Class 4.The main additional areas covered in Class 1 that are not necessarily protected by existing State Mapping is Riparian Buffers that are also affected by Unacceptable Flood Risk, these areas may or may not have existing vegetation. Sometimes they are characterised by wetland habitats not obvious from imagery, other times they may be areas which may be targeted for Riparian Revegetation to achieve water quality objectives for Moreton Bay set out in Total Water Cycle Management plan.Key contact people involved in developing the mapping for Green Infrastructure Network Strategy: Bernadette May, Erin Porter, Lan Wang (GIS), Curt Ahlberg (GIS).The Methodology can be accessed on the MBRC Document Management System RIO, click hyperlinks below.Class 1 (A8339914)Class 2 (A8339920)A Geoprocessing Model has been built for the creation and maintanance of this dataset, the model allows input datasets to be substituted with newer versions (eg. new RE mapping from state), the model also allows future manual edits to be rolled in and processed, the model also documents the geoprocessing steps used for data cleansing, including removal of small fragments, holes and slithers. Class 1 may be considered the ‘load bearing’dataset of the networkas it provides a reliable spatial structure around which the rest of the green network is developed.2Areas of high ecological significance;Habitats for priority species (including locally declining habitats and plant communities)Coastal and wetland buffer areas of influence;Large habitat treesClass 2 represents very high environmental values and includes areas of high ecological significance and habitats for priority species. The dataset is frequently found where there is likely to be significant conflict between environmental values and potential development and where development provides an overwhelming argument for precedence. The environmental values of Class 2 may be offset, in the knowledge broader green infrastructure network across the region will benefit.
